DVD review: Teddy (2011)

Four collage students get more than thet bargained for when a hit-and-run accident turns into murder. Revenge is a dish best served hot with a hatchet in one hand and a teddy bear in the other. Teddy is written by Kevin Sommerfield and Steve Goltz who also is the director. It´s a 11 minute long short film, a throwback to the slasher films of the 80s. The acting is surprisingly good, special praise goes to Keegan Bergen as the mentally challenged Teddy and Mike Goltz as Clay. The short running time gives us a compact slasher that works very well. It´s professionally shot and edited, the soundtrack is good. The gore make-up fx are pretty good, some fx are better than others and as usual I won´t go into details because I do try to keep the reviews free from spoilers. Gorehounds might be interested to know that several of the kills appear off screen but we get to see the after effects. T & A fans will be dissapointed as there is no nudity on display.
This review is based upon the DVD released by Slasher Studios and you can buy it through their website http://www.slasherstudios.com/
Rating: 6½ out of 7. Teddy is well made and a very effective slasher in the short film format. Recommended for fans of slasher flicks.
